Anyway, if you don't like the situation, Apple are the people to talk to. Apple have set it up so you can't delete them easily, and it may be unsafe to do so. So you see them in Illustrator like all your MacOS fonts. They are included with MacOS, in effect a part of your Mac. Deleted fonts will be transferred to its original place. Open font book via spotlight on top menu bar, click on add fonts or you can do in a different way, open font book & click on plus sign. Or perhaps another Font organizing program will work better? Currently all newly added fonts get added into my documents folder as a default.Īny ideas what to change to make it behave as before? The only other change is that with Sierra the documents folder in my user directory is in the cloud. These fonts are nothing to do with Illustrator. Open the new folder on desktop, press ( command + V ), removed fonts will be copied into this folder. Is that the culprint? I dont' want to spend the money to upgrade Font Explorer if that does not solve the issue. Hopefully it will clear whatever cache that is causing it to show on the font. Select Change All, until you no longer have any missing fonts in the document. Then click the missing font and choose a font from your System that you know that you have. I am using an old version of Linotype Font Explorer v1.2.3. This may be worth a try: Open the offending document and Go to the Menubar > Type > Find Font. I could add anywhere from 1-60 fonts at a time and they were instantly available for use. It worked in El Capitan, Mavericks and every version of osx as far as I can remember. The originals can be removed if you want, though they should be kept as a backup. This has never been a requirement and seems like a step backwards. Done this way, the fonts you add are copied to the Fonts folder in your user account, and those are the fonts which are then activated. Now it requires that I restart Illustrator to make the new font appear in the font menu. Previously when I activated a font in Font Explorer it would immediately appear in Illustrator. Install google font in font book so you can use it in Photoshop.
